Zulu Mountain Trail : 4 Day Weekend Getaway

Riding this 4 day trip is probably the most comprehensive ride one
could do in 4 days. Most of the guys and girls who join this trip with
us have been looking for a long weekend getaway where they can do a lot
of riding, on and off road as well as getting some time off relaxing
and seeing what Zululand has to offer.
Once leaving Durban it doesn’t take long before the group
gets used to each other and their bikes. After a couple of hours
we try some dirt roads out, after which riding as a team gets easy
and enjoyable.
So long as the group follows instructions and takes it easy with
the speed then this ride is a breeze. Day three is the hardest day
riding but by this stage everyones into the tour and we handle it
with little difficulty or hard saddle butt discomfort.
With the mixture of events of this tour I definately put my name
down to ride it as many time a year as I can, but unfortunately I’ve
got to give the other guides a chance as well.
 Day
1 Hluhluwe (South Africa)
Departing Durban we saddle north along the coast getting acquainted with our
machines on a scenic tar route to Empangeni for our first break. From here
we take our bikes through tall scenic forests, giving us the opportunity to
learn to master the dirt roads, on our way to Hluhluwe. After settling into
our lodgings we head out to the Game Park where we enjoy an afternoon viewing
the Big 5, returning to the lodge for sundowners. (D)
Day 2 Sodwana Bay (South Africa)
After an energy breakfast we take off on some of the most awesome dirt roads
including some unmapped sections through rural Zulu villages and the Mkuzi
Pans, riding into Sodwana Bay in the early afternoon. Here you have the opportunity
to ride some sand tracks, hire a quad bike, take a flip in a microlight or
just relax and enjoy the ocean at our seaside resort. (B,D)
 Day
3 Shakaland (South Africa)
Leaving the wild coast behind us with packed lunches, we set out for a hard
days riding through the heart of Zululand. We chew dust via Jozini Dam then
inland around the Hluhluwe National Park crossing the great White Mfolozi River
through Umunywana, a small trading town. After this iron butt ride, we arrive
at Shakaland where we spend the evening relaxing around an inviting pool. (B,D)
Day 4 Durban (South Africa)
This morning you have the option to do a cultural tour of Shakaland before
we once again stir the dust and cut a trail via some of the highest mountains
in Zululand looking over the almighty Tugela River. After some breathtaking
views and excellent riding we head south down to the coast, riding the mean
machines into the late Durban sunset where our ride ends. (B)
